From Fungi to the Future
MYCL Composite is a revolutionary material that harnesses the potential of agricultural waste, seamlessly bonded together by mycelium—a natural adhesive. The versatility of this composite extends across various applications, encompassing structural, decorative, thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as shock-absorbent packaging.
The development of MYCL Composite began in 2015, initially focusing on building materials. Notably, in 2017, it took center stage as Mycotree, a striking structural pavilion grown entirely from MYCL™ Composite.
The innovative journey continued in 2019, marked by collaborations with MINI and Kinetic Singapore, resulting in the creation of a remarkable mushroom lion statue prominently displayed in Chinatown, Singapore. Adding to its portfolio, an armature lighting installation was showcased during the Living and Design Expo in Osaka in the same year.
Pushing the boundaries of sustainable architecture even further, MYCL partnered with the Indian design and research studio Anomalia for two major global exhibitions in 2025. At the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, they unveiled MycoMuseum, showcasing load-bearing MycoBlox cultivated from mycelium to highlight the future of grown architecture. Later that year, at the 5th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (2025), the collaboration produced a groundbreaking "Mushroom Wall". This interactive, biodegradable mycelium facade redefined urban building materials as part of the "Walls of Public Life" exhibition.
Since these notable milestones, MYCL has actively engaged in diverse collaborations, applying the material to a wide array of innovative purposes. With this latest collection, MYCL aims to democratize access to this exquisite fungi material, inviting customers to own a piece of its beauty and sustainability.
