GINLEE Debuts at Jakarta Fashion Week with "Hidden Brilliance," Unveiling Seaweed-Based Mylea™ Sea Innovation
JAKARTA, INDONESIA — Singapore-based womenswear label GINLEE makes its highly anticipated Jakarta Fashion Week debut with Hidden Brilliance, the latest chapter in its Autumn/Winter 2026 collection. Invited by the Ministry of Tourism and DEWI Magazine, the brand introduces its signature fusion of industrial design and fluid craftsmanship to a new audience, highlighted by a groundbreaking foray into sustainable biomaterials.
Inspired by the Deep Sea Drawing profound inspiration from the mysterious depths of the ocean, Hidden Brilliance is an exploration of the extraordinary life forms, intricate structures, and unexpected beauty found beneath the surface. Translating these oceanic discoveries into dimensional pleating, sculptural silhouettes, and fluid color gradients, GINLEE balances technical precision with organic movement. The collection masterfully navigates the relationship between structure and softness, championing individuality and freedom of expression.
Material Innovation: Introducing Mylea™ Sea In a significant step toward the future of alternative textiles, GINLEE has collaborated with Indonesian biotechnology research company MYCL to introduce Mylea™ Sea. Perfectly synergizing with the collection's deep-sea theme, Mylea™ Sea is an innovative, seaweed-based biomaterial created using polysaccharides extracted from seaweed biomass.
Serving as a compelling alternative to conventional fossil-based plastics, this cutting-edge material pushes the boundaries of contemporary textile design. The Studio is actively exploring its versatile applications across bags, accessories, and skirts, opening dynamic new possibilities in texture, materiality, and construction. This collaboration underscores the label's ongoing commitment to looking beyond traditional fabrics and integrating emerging technologies into modern fashion.
A New Expression on the Jakarta Runway For its Jakarta Fashion Week showcase, GINLEE presents a highly experimental interpretation of its design language. Developed alongside stylist Allysha Nila for creative direction and assisted by Tiara Ale, the runway features experimental garments paired with new 3D-printed clutches.
Graduated colors transition seamlessly from coral and pink to pale green and deeper blues, while translucent finishes, layered fabrics, and intricate surface details introduce contrasting textures that evoke the movement of water. While every piece begins with a precise creative intention, the collection ultimately relies on the wearer to bring the garments to life, interpreting them through their unique sense of identity and expression.
